CSR - The Innovation Trophies innovate

The recent update on exhibitor registrations for SIMODEC 2024 was also an opportunity to fine-tune the show's response to visitors' needs.

As we know, bar turners and precision mechanics manufacturers are becoming increasingly aware of their social and environmental responsibilities. Training and recruitment are also at the heart of their concerns. Together with its institutional partners, the team in charge of the show therefore wants to promote the trades concerned to new generations, as well as the meaning of the values supported by the CSR law.

To give concrete expression to these two key trends at the show, we have created a CSR & Training category for the SIMODEC 2024 Innovation Awards, in addition to the five existing categories. This initiative completes the reservation of a large area showcasing the bar-turning professions. Long known as SMILE, it is organized by the Syndicat National du décolletage. The 2024 edition will be presented to you shortly. By broadening the scope of our discussions with exhibitors, visitors and all our partners, Rochexpo hopes to contribute to building a sustainable future for the professions that place their trust in us.

# TRADE SHOW NEWS

For this trophy, we're giving him a hand

At Simodec 2022, the regional team from German family firm Schunk presented the programmable R-C2 collet vice workholding system. Thanks to its ability to integrate quality at the heart of part gripping, this robotic gripper system won the Industry 4.0 Trophy. The system's dual function enables workpiece gripping in the magazine and powerful clamping in the machining zone. The vice gripper features dynamometric clamping and a programmable stroke. The workpiece is picked up directly from the magazine by the vice, which thus becomes the robot's gripper. The part is then transported to the clamping system, at the zero point of the machining center table. The vice is then positioned on the machine table with a repeatability of less than 5µ. Finally, the vice is uncoupled from the robot and the part is ready for machining. A turner system enables the first and second operations to be carried out. The parts are thus finished on six sides without operator intervention. The "Industrie 4.0 and tooling" technology animation spot was a great success on the Schunk stand at the show.

Mixed reality for worldwide support

Thanks to its Remote Support remote assistance service, machine tool peripherals manufacturer LNS has won the Jury's favorite award at SIMODEC 2022.
This service minimizes machine downtime by providing immediate maintenance and troubleshooting support, regardless of the user's location. It combines the MyLNS web portal with mixed reality technology. Mixed reality is the fusion of the real and virtual worlds. The Hololens connected glasses are the vectors of mixed reality, enabling LNS hotline technicians to visualize the situation and provide the right advice immediately, wherever the equipment is located. Knowledge transfer and faster user training also benefit from the technology, thanks to the recording of operational sequences with the connected glasses. This training enables users to make the most of their LNS peripherals, ensuring optimum profitability. Demonstrations at the show gave visitors a better understanding of the technology.
