Workshops

10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. : « The prevention of chemical risks in metal machining »

Speaker: Fabrice Martinet, Safety Controller - CARSAT Rhône-Alpes Chemistry Laboratory

Employees in the metal machining sector may be exposed to many hazardous chemicals— including oils and cutting fluids—that can have serious effects on their health and that can be recognized as occupational diseases. What approach is best and what preventive measures are recommended? What is the French National Professional Chemical Risks Program «cutting fluids» proposed by the State Health Insurance - Professional Risks division?

11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: «Machining lead-free materials: optimising the process»

Company: CETIM
Speaker: Stéphane Maniglier

The evolution of REACH and ROHS regulations will certainly lead to the end of exemptions limiting the use of lead as an alloy in materials. The lead contained in small quantities in metal alloys «facilitated» their machining. New strategies, methods and machining methods are to be created to optimize the machining of «lead-free» materials. This workshop will provide an opportunity to take stock of the results of the studies and tests carried out in this field.

12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.: « Capture of aerosols from cutting fluids»

Speaker: Fabrice Martinet, Safety Controller - CARSAT Rhône-Alpes Chemistry Laboratory

The installation of devices for capturing cutting fluid aerosols (oil mists) is one of the major areas of risk prevention related to cutting fluids. Suction and filtration systems represent important investments for the company. It is therefore necessary to clearly define your needs. What are the regulatory requirements? What are the effective technical solutions? What aspects must be contracted with suppliers/ installers?

1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.: «Potential of innovative surfaces finishing technologies»

Company: CETIM
Speakers: Martin JAY, Cetim and Stéphane GUERIN

CETIM is developing an important activity around surface finishing by integrating, for example, polishing and deburring solutions adapted to machining centres or specific innovative surface solutions such as electropolishing DRY or magnetic tribofinishing. The objective of this activity is to help industrialists better understand, control, and integrate these surface finishing methods and solutions in order to face challenges.
